Oh! Really?! Did they not expect that? Welcome our readers and friends one more time from everywhere in our great globe: The US, India, Denmark, Réunion, New Zealand, and Canada 😉
Interesting enough and for years, aromatherapy has been touted as a safe and natural way to relax and even heal.
What is aromatherapy?
It is the practice of using the natural oils extracted from flowers, bark, stems, leaves, roots or other parts of a plant to enhance psychological and physical well-being. The inhaled aroma from these “essential” oils is widely believed to stimulate brain function.
It is claimed that the scents added to the candles help people feel better. Ohio State University made a study that says it is nice to have candles with aroma, but they do nothing actually to improve people’s health.
The researchers tested two of the most popular scents: lemon and lavender. The subjects had their heart rate, blood pressure, stress hormones, and immune functions measured ; then, they were exposed to the scent to inhale to measure the degree of relaxation they got afterwords. There were no significant changes noted.
Nevertheless, this does not prove that aromatherapy is worthless either. Still more tests need to be done, in order to give us a clear decisive proof whether it is useful for our health or not.
Of course, a whiff of vanilla, lavender, rose, or any other scent may refresh your mood and inspire your imagination, so no harm after all.
