Seniors need protection against many different kinds of scams and on top of them is the rent increase by adding unknown additional fees and claimed that it is required by law, which is a big fat lie 🙄
In CA, there is phone scams, Medicare scams, banks scams, caregiver scams, lottery scams, donation scams, campaign scams, rent scams, games scams. Wow! It’s an endless disease, and the excuse is that there’s no enough supervision on a number of things among them checking on the rent processing correcting operations.
Never sign a lease or provide any money before visiting the apartment in person. Photos can be deceiving, and it’s important to see the apartment and the surrounding neighborhood before committing to a lease. If you’re unable to visit elderly in person, ask a trusted friend or family member to do so on your behalf.
Elderly should be helped for they soon will leave your world and go to another place. Give them the little bit of happiness they deserve after reaching this critical age. Everyone of them wish to live more, but it’s not in your hand or any other. Media should talk about it more to educate people before they will be in the same situation.
