“Prepositions” are tricky and no matter how good you are in the language, you still will have mistakes about using them.
Bearing in mind that the spoken English could be different from the written one, just focus on communication, and don’t worry too much about which is the right preposition you need to use, so you wouldn’t miss your moment of inspiration.
In ESL, it is very important to convey the message to the other party. This is what counts. If you ask a question to someone and s/he understood your question, it means you did a good job.
