Some people want to add to the jobs of the Congress, which is originally and concisely is to legislate after reviewing and revising the info they have. Some people want to extend the power of the Congress to the extent of abuse!
The Constitution says nothing about congressional investigations and oversight, but the authority to conduct investigations is implied since Congress possesses “all legislative powers.” The Supreme Court determined that the framers intended for Congress to seek out information when crafting or reviewing legislation.
The People want to hear productive work from the Congress, it seems that having investigations is the only way to put more money in their pockets and nobody is counting!
