Each bill or coin has its story. It could be a short or a long one. Some are history and some caused battles to start or end. 

For kids to know a little bit about currency is good. It’s interesting  for adults and perhaps it is more interesting for kids to know more. It’s not enough to show them the bills or the coins saying: “this is a dime or this is a nickle”, it’s not that any more. Why? Coz probably or most probably they already know that  from your  the supermarket or the internet stores or another source, who knows.

How To Identify Your Coin... Via Diagrams, Photos & Definitions

Take it one step at a time and make a plan. A simple plan it doesn’t have to be a complicated one. A picture and few arrows showing the names of the important parts of a coin. Here’s a good example:
