ESL³!

Hearts and brains are never meant to be together! 😉

Well, you better start all over again and first define what a preposition is. You will keep in mind that this subject here is discussed for ESL teachers or English teachers without getting deeply into the academics behind.

Keep in mind that there is a preposition and a postposition and together you call them adpositions.

A postposition is similar in function to a preposition, but it follows rather than precedes the object. more

It’s generally accepted that the only common postposition in English is the word ago.

Prepositions” are many in English and since they belong to the Grammar, it is somehow disliked b/c the majority of the students want to speak the language not to worry about its technicality, which is normal. Most of the seekers of ESL classes need to communicate rather than anything else.

Prepositions are made to serve the place, the time, the how, and the what and they could be confusing even for the native speakers who are uneducated about the grammatical part of the language, similar to any other language.

For example: “I go to school every Monday”, and “You must be patient to be a teacher”. In the first sentence “toSophieWorldFriends is a preposition, but in the second phrase, “to” is an infinitive similar to (to read, to drink, to play, etc.) Yes, “to” could be quite confusing especially for ESL beginners students.
