Zahraa’ was running in the hall waiving her hand to Alisha saying “4 Days Off”.
Everyone in the department got curious; they all wanted to know how and why four days off. It turned out that Zahraa’ is among the people who reconizes Eid Al-Adha, and that in SF now it is a legal approved holiday.
But still there was curiousity because some of us did not know why it was four days and not one or two or three. It starts on June 28th or 29th depending on your location, ending on the 2nd or the 3rd of July, 2023.
89 countries around the world list Eid al-Adha as an official holiday . 71 of those countries celebrate it as a national holiday, which means almost half the number of countires recognize it….. more
This feast is similar to Thanksgiving in which a goat or a sheep replaces the turkey and becomes the main dish for that delicious dinner. The whole family comes together around the table and enjoy thanking The Creator for all their blessings.
The other side of similarity between Eid Al-Adha and Thanksgiving, is giving the meat cooked or uncooked to indigent people sharing thanks and gratitude to Al-Mighty Creator.
Zahraa’ said that the four days are given because there is a certain process that goes on hand in hand with the sacrifice part which is Al-Haj which is another pillar of this faith.
Until we talk again, get inspired, with our hugs and kisses ❤
