Waking up abruptly can cause higher blood pressure and heart rate. Besides increasing your blood pressure, an alarm can add to your stress levels by getting your adrenaline rushing. more

How does alarm clock sound affect your brain? It disturbs your brain at different levels depending on the strength of the alarm sound. It could cause severe damage to your ears and ear cells if died, they would not be replaced by your body.

In the United States, a typical fire alarm sounds off between the 65 decibel and 120 decibel range. According to the National Institute on Deafness and Other Communication Disorders (NIDCD), repeated exposure to sound at 85 decibels or above can be enough to cause hearing loss.
