It’s understandable that many people like to hear and to listen to Christmas songs, but it could hurt your mental health!
According to psychologist Linda Blair, listening to “Santa Claus is coming to town” on repeat could actually have a negative effect on your brain.
“People working in the shops at Christmas have to tune out Christmas music because if they don’t, it really does stop you from being able to focus on anything else,” she told Sky News.
Moderation is needed when it comes to any songs not only Christmas songs, but because specifically Christmas songs are played too too much, it has become a completely unhealthy habit. It affects directly your brain, mood, work, appetite, almost everything you do if you’re exposed to it continuously, even if it was 3-4 hours exposure.
… exposure to the same songs for weeks on end has a downside — after a while, it gets annoying. That’s due to something called the “mere exposure effect,” according to Dr. Victoria Williamson, now a professor of music at the University of Sheffield.
Your body and your mind try hard to get rid of any excessive pressure that they are being exposed to, so whether it is you who put the music or others it is still an occurrence that your body and brain resist. Your energy, without you realizing that, is wasted getting rid of those songs that are repeated over and over again.
At one point, you’re totally eager to leave the place where you have all that wrong way of enjoying songs. Linda Blair, a clinical psychologist, told the BBC :
” listening to Christmas music too early into the holiday season may affect mental health by triggering feelings of stress.” More
The other part about that is if you are not into Christmas songs, it would be egregious to have it played in your mind, while you don’t even like’m.
Nevertheless, the most important thing is to keep your mental health and physical fitness in their best shape, who needs a physician?!
